Jade's Homepage

Here's a poem that my Dad wrote about me when I was born:

We were waiting and waiting
Till we could wait no more,
The time had come
To open the baby door.

Nine months of growing
A little at a time,
Has finally concluded
So I write this rhyme.

On the day of the twelfth,
In the month of June,
Chris went into labor,
At just about noon.

A few good pushes,
And a moan or two,
A tug on the head,
And the baby came through.

She's such a sweet baby,
And oh what a joy,
Now we can answer
"Is it a girl or a boy?"

Her first name is Jade,
Raisa, her middle,
Cohen's the last,
With that we can't fiddle.

A full twenty-one inches,
A beefy eight pounds,
With strong vocal chords,
Making all sorts of sounds.

It's been a few days now
Since our daughter was born,
We've been really busy,
And our bodies are worn.

So try to forgive us
For how late this was sent,
And help us to welcome,
The new girl to our tent.

My first name is in honor of my great-great grandmother Jenny. My middle name is in honor of my great-great aunt Rose. Both women were strong, loving and wonderful. I also have a Hebrew name, Nadya Raisel. Nadya means 'hope' and Raisel is Yiddish for 'rose.' I had a naming ceremony when I was 8 days old. Here is a picture of me, my parents, Bubby and Zeide (left), Grandma (right) and Grandpa (holding me).

I'm growing!
